Cà tím cắt khúc, chẻ làm bốn. Thịt ba chỉ rửa sạch, cắt lát. Sả cây bằm nhuyễn.
Các loại rau cùng bông súng rửa sạch, để lên rổ cho ráo.
Mắm cá linh, cá sặc cho vào nồi nấu rã mắm. Lược bỏ xác mắm, để lắng nước.
Cho thêm 600 ml nước lọc, ớt, sả vào nồi mắm rồi đun sôi rồi nêm 1/2 muỗng cà phê hạt nêm, 1 muỗng canh đường vào nồi.
Phi thơm dầu ăn, cho thịt ba chỉ, sả bằm vào đảo vàng. Tiếp đến cho cà tím vào đảo đều. Sau đó cho hỗn hợp đó vào nồi mắm.
Cho tiếp cá điêu hồng vào nấu chín. Sau cùng cho tôm, mực vào nấu chín. Nêm lại gia vị cho vừa ăn.
Chần bún qua nước sôi rồi cho vào bát. Xà lách, bông súng, húng quế, giá đỗ... cho lên trên. Cho tiếp thịt, cá, mực, tôm lên trên, chan nước dùng vào rồi thưởng thức khi còn nóng.
