Another Fun Read in my Favorite Series
I loved it, small flaws and all. By small flaws I am simply referring to observations made in the more critical reviews. To me the story wasn't slow or formulaic. I love the little details the author puts into each scene such as describing how someone is fidgeting while eating their meal. She makes the character come alive with these little details. But she doesn't overdo it enough to make the story tedious. I'm so glad Adam is still around. He and Danielle have a very endearing rapport and Adam is revealed as a much more honestly devoted grandson than I ever thought he was in the first book, when I thought he was a conniving rat fink and unworthy of such a sweet and intelligent grandmother. He is very flawed but in a realistic and funny way. We wouldn't want to see him paired romantically with Danielle but he makes a pretty good surrogate brother or cousin especially now that Cheryl is gone and Dani has no family left. There are some loose ends at the end of the story but we can now be confident they will play into future stories. I am fine that Danielle is in a relationship limbo in this story. It makes for some amusing back and forth between Walt and Chris. Especially when another guy enters the scene or tries to. Heather is a very interesting character. She is a disturbing presence, though. She's very troubled as we saw in the last book. I worry about her because she's not particularly endearing, so I wonder if she has staying power in a town where the per capita mortality rate is astonishingly high among people with questionable circumstances. She adds so much color to the series, so I would hate to see her go ghost on us. I like that the author works in the opportunity for characters like Adam and Bill to show other better sides of themselves. That goes for some ghosts as well. It makes for some cool moments that pop up when you least expect it. I can't wait to read the next story.
Book 10 and it keeps getting better
Local banker Steve Klein who we’ve met in several other books has been fishing on the Pier on Thursday night while his wife Beverly has her bridge group in. Steve who we learn has a bad allergy to shellfish, so while eating tamale’s that his friend Baron Huxley brings to him. So poor Heather Donovan is jogging Steve’s body washes up on shore. Over ten years ago Baron’s wife Melissa was strangled in an alley and her murderer was never found. How is it that Hilliary’s muse Antoine Paul always seems to know when a murder will occur and another book comes out. But Hilliary Hemingway passed away from natural causes the day before she was to leave Marlow House, is this why Antoine Paul is peeking in windows and roaming the town. All the normal characters are on board to help solve the latest murder
slow but steady.
I love the Haunting Danielle series. I pre- purchase each book as it becomes available. Overall the series is fast paced, fun and very interesting. I WOULD recommend them to anyone. This particular book, "The Ghost and the Muse" seems to be much slower than the previous books. There seems to be very little "happening". The characters discuss the same set of information over and over again with different people. It's like a book version of the grapevine. Danielle tells the Chief something, the Chief tells Brian, who then tells Adam, etc and so on. Normally I read Haunting Danielle straight through. But this time I actually got bored and put it down twice, and I'm only halfway through! If you are wondering if this series is for you, please start with the first book. It will help you understand all that follows and is a great introduction to the series. "The Ghost and the Muse", not so much.
Who ki!led the banker??
When Fredrickson port bank manager dies by falling of the pier at first everyone thinks it was an accident until the the police realize that it was murder. But who would want to kill Steve? Well maybe his mistress he had just dumped, or his ex-buisness Lardner who was going to be approached by the FBI to help bring him down? His wife didn't know about the mistress so she had no motive. Who is the strange ghost who has shown up in town? And why does the mystery writer who died in sleep at Danielle's B & B refuse to move on? So many questions, to find the answers you will have to read this, the tenth book in the exciting series Haunting Danielle by Bobbi Holmes. Ms Holmes is a excellent storyteller, whose ongoing storyline is fascinating. The ghost who lives in Dani's B & B is almost the perfect man except for one small problem, he's been dead for almost 100 years. The characters in the story are believable and sympathetic, you will fall in luv with them all. Highly recommended.
Walt handles the palooka 😀😂👏
I thoroughly enjoy visiting Frederickport even when murderous creeps hang around. I loved Walt's method of teaching the visiting palooka some manners around a lady. That word, palooka, has me cracking up every time I see it. Even my teenagers find it hilarious when I now use the word to call them out for poor manners or messy rooms.
She is so creative
I would recommend this book to everyone. The whole series. She is creative an makes you think of many possibilities. The setting are beautiful an the trade of romance is so understated. I have them as ebooks. But I want the series in real live paper to touch an smell. An read over an over

Outstanding!!!!!!
Another excellent book in the Haunting Danielle series. This is one of my favorite series. With each new book you feel as though you are reconnecting with old friends. I love all of the characters. Bobbi Holmes is an excellent writer. The mysteries are well thought out and difficult to predict. I hope this series never ends. Keep them coming Bobbi.
Another Great Book!
I love the installments of "Haunting Danielle". Everyone book is exciting, fun and very, very well written. I truly hope that the author's muse keeps her writing more and more books about Danielle and her handsome ghost and the mysteries that they both try to solve. It reminds me a lot of the movie "Ghost and Mrs. Muir, except that both individuals are smart and truly care about solving mysteries. Highly recommended!!
